Ir3 TECH UPDATE.
1. It has been reported that IR3's are not working out of the box, and
that the Rate of fire is limited to 1 or 2 balls per second. The
explanation for this is that once you turn on the IR3 you must wait
until the display reads 'SAFE' before you attempt to turn the gun to
'LIVE'. If the user tries to turn the IR3 on before the screen reads
'SAFE' (ie- When 'MEM 2' is displayed) then the gun will switch on but
will be limited to the COPS base rate (1-3 balls per second).
2. We have received comments that the "IR3's are not charging"
Upon investigation I have found the following:
* If the vehicle supply voltage is less than 12.5 volts the charge
circuit on the IR3 will not allow the marker to charge this is because
the circuit has detected a weak car battery that is in a state of poor
charge and the additional 1 amp drain could flatten the battery.
* The customer needs to be advised to run his car for a couple of
mins so the battery is charged on his car.
* This is a fault with the consumers car battery charge status.
* I have also seen some cheap (radio shack etc mains chargers)
failing to give correct voltage)
* The best mains charger to use is a CB power supply
